37-year-old Stella McCartney - who has designed clothes for Chloe and Gucci as well as her own Stella McCartney label - was the only representative from the fashion industry in TIME magazine's annual 100 influential people list.
Stella was recommended by her close friend Gwyneth Paltrow, who wrote a glowing piece about her.
Gwyneth wrote: "Everything about Stella McCartney is authentic. Her red hair is her own. She has real guts. She means what she says. Sometimes it's even a bit scary - she somehow works tirelessly to create the chic looks that have made her a fashion icon and yet still manages to be home with her three beautiful children at the same time."
Stella - daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney and his late wife Linda - is ranked alongside the likes of Zac Efron, the founders of social networking site Twitter and US President Barack Obama in the list
She famously started her fashion career by getting some of the world's top supermodels, including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, to appear on the catwalk at her graduation collection in 1995 at London's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
