Allen Curnow

A New Zealand author's lifelong study on one of our greatest poets has been lost, after the theft of his computer and memory stick.

Terry Sturm had nearly finished his biography of Allen Curnow and said his stolen equipment was of little value, unlike the information stored on it.

Sturm is battling a serious illness but says he is now even more determined to complete the book.

He has been working on his biography of Allen Curnow for five years. All of his work was stored on a laptop and memory stick.

The retired Auckland University professor said the black Toshiba laptop and silver memory stick were several years old, so would be worth little to the thieves.

Allen Curnow passed away seven years ago, leaving a reputation as one of our greatest literary figures. His widow is devastated by the theft of Sturm's computer.

Sturm has hard copies of parts of the book but says months of work has been lost and that is all he wants back.
