11-year-old caught driving eight tonne loader in Canterbury

In a driving incident that even shocked an 11-year-old has been caught behind the wheel of an eight tonne loader in Canterbury.

Police stopped a truck and trailer unit in Southbridge, near Christchurch, early Saturday morning - as well as the JCB loader that was following it.

Officers were surprised to find the 11-year-old boy driving the massive vehicle while his father drove the truck in front.

The truck driver's been charged with aiding and abetting an unlicensed driver.

the boy must have driven it quite a few times.

Take the father's license off him, although will that matter he obviously has no respect for the licensing system. Charge him with endangering a child, and the public.
