Boobs on Bikes

Boobs on Bikes

The on-going controversy that surrounds Auckland's Boobs on Bikes parade has just been given fresh momentum.

The parade promotes the erotica lifestyles expo and this year's parade, which is scheduled for next Wednesday, faces a civil injunction from furious Auckland city councillors.

The injunction could be in place either today or tomorrow, but that has not deterred Boobs on Bikes founder Steve Crow, who says he will simply make his parade a protest.

He spoke to Sunrise

With breast cancer being what it is, most often affecting women and is generally disfiguring or even terminal in some cases; one might want to reconsider covering up those magnificent mammary glans while they are still beautiful works of art. If I subscribed to and believed in reincarnation, I would hope to return as size 12/14-C/D or DD lace bra. The achitecture of the human female structure has been celebrated since long before Jesus was born so, get over yourselves, lighten up on folks like Steve Crowe and his beautiful deciples and thank your lucky stars you DON'T live Iraq, Iran or some other oppressive Muslim country. Mr. Crowe, if you ever get to Christchurch, let me know how I can HELP! PLEASE!!!

Do they turn their tv's off when a 1/2 naked male or female comes on the screen god they need to get a life, and for the one's it's going to offend use your head and don't go. For the kids that are meant to see them why aren;t they at school or why have their parents got them there for a start. All i can say is man some people have nothing better to do!!!!!

Isn't this the best advertising he could get though? The more you rant and rave about it, the better for him, you can't pay for advertising like this. As far as the stand goes for whether this is porn or not, yes it is, very soft porn, but how is this any different from racing down the streets in your underwear? That too is defined as, soft porn. The fact is and still remains, if you do not want to be a part of a show like this, then don't attend, why should the hundreds of thousands be affected by the loyalists amongst us? what next...are we to be told how to think? If we cannot be the country we always have been the care free kiwis we are known to be world wide, then who are we? What disturbs me most about the councils protests, it was a scots-woman who started the protests? excuse me, when did we start putting the control of our country into the hands of people who aren't even from here?? Shouldn't New Zealand be run by New Zealanders??? My parting comment is this....who in their right mind would take their child down to a parade like this and then complain about the child being exposed to this sort of spectacle?

Great, if you think nudity is pornography then you really must have a twisted mind - there is nothing wrong with the human form. I wish this was in CHCH so i could take the family. If you teach kids there is something bad or wrong with parts of their body they will grow up with an unhealthy obsession..... also what happend to Equil rights; men can show nipple so women can too....... Whats the problem?

People that know about it and dont want to see it of course will stay away but... not everyone will know and not every child will be at school!? Some children are younger than school age. Anyways its not just about the children most adults consider it extremely inappropriate. It is a human right issue.

I think a far greater harm is done to society by banning parades such as this than by allowing them . It bares (pun) no comparison to the Rio carnival a few breasts so what ! All of you who claim not to be prudes I say that is exactly what you are , prudes pretending not to be :) . It is a really good thing that Steve Crowe is able to proceed with this parade . It tells us we live in a free society , there are other places which would not allow such a parade and they are usually the ones taken to task about human rights abuses .

more adults turn out for this parade than any other auckland parade. Over 100,000 adults, and not one child, because as homer said, they are or should be in school. Pity that the hero parade is no longer around. Seems NZ is becoming boring and dull, while such events in other countries are becoming rather large. And a woman from the auckland city council is going to lay down in front of the parade, kewl, can't wait to see on the news the thousands and thousands of woman that do turn out to it booing her.

what a shame that our nation is being allowed to be reduced to the levels of a controlled police and nanny state.

what the heck is the fuss about? if it's kids that you are concerned with - keep them at home. if you don't want to see a bit of the more colourful side of life yourself - stay at home too.

next we'll be told how we discipline our children...next we'll be told that we can't say the government is corrupt and it's time for a change (to avoid this ridiculous level of controlled behaviour from our councils..)...

oh that's right we can't do either - we allowed anti-smacking through...we allowed the EFA through....

New zealand time to start seeing some sense and become aware of what's going on here!

There is already an indigestion of crimes in this country brought about from the false "freedom" some idiotic women and men even in high places allow.

Why should not youngsters and adults behave disorderly when some activites organized by a perverted group of minds get away with organizing the very same thing which will later be detrimental to the performers, families and criminal minds.

Why doesn't someone take a case against Steve Crowe, under the Human Rights Act?After all (and I am certainly not in any shape or form a prude)it might be his 'Human Right' to inflict his views on others. It is also the Right of every New Zealander,to go about their business, without having lewd conduct thrust in their faces, as being normal. It is all about a line in the sand, boundaries. Now it is "Boobs on Bikes".What next year? Perhaps "Bonking on Bikes"?
Steve Crowe's total disregard for other peoples' Human and Civil Rights is also an issue here.It may not offend some, but what of the vast majority of New Zealanders who think it is a public disgrace?"Oh! they can just stay away" I can hear the comments now.My response to that is: Why the hell should they?It makes an area, a busy area of Auckland city then an 'no go area' for many. This is totally unacceptable and against the Human Right of every New Zealander who does not agree with it.So get on to the Council and make your views known. The line in the sand must be drawn, your Human and Civil Rights are being trampled on.
