Police investigating the theft of morphine from Christchurch Hospital have completed their inquiry but have made no arrests.

The investigation was launched in August when painkillers were found to have been tampered with - and patients were being given with diluted medicine.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey says they have not been able to catch the culprit.

He says the Canterbury DHB has taken onboard advice about security and controlled medicines.
