A revolt is brewing among Auckland fire-fighters.

Their union is saying they have no faith in a newly appointed regional commander.

Bassel Cuthbert has been appointed Waitemata assistant area manager and will temporarily head the services response to large emergencies in the region.

However, the Auckland President of the Union, Jeff Mulloch, says he is a paper pusher and has not even passed the physical test to hold the position.

Auckland Regional commander Brain Butt flatly rejects the concerns and says he has full confidence in Mr Cuthbert.
