Next Week

Thu, 21 Jan 2010 10:02a.m.

I get married next week! It doesn't seem real, sort of like Christmas, its here before you've even really had a chance to think about it.

Good progress since this time last week I'm happy to report! Things are slowly starting to come together. Now if we could just predict the weather then I'd be able to shorten my to do list substantially! It does seems silly and time consuming making back up plans in summer, but I really don't think that Wellington has got the 'summer' message yet!

We (well mum) has found two helpers for the day, we just need to cover their petrol expenses, such a relief!

Seating plan has been re-done and is officially finalised, and I've made a pretty chart for the guests to refer to. Now just need to find the best way to display it - a laminated A3 sheet of paper isn't going to cut it!

I should really tell you about my hen's night, seeing as it was the highlight of last week. My bridesmaids did a fantastic job, a great time had by all! They hired an apartment, and a select few (those who could nick off from work early) enjoyed some pampering, nibbles and bubbles. The rest of the crowd showed up after knock off time, and much to my surprise (read: embarrassment), so did a topless waiter! Was quite a giggle, especially when one of my friends walked in and greeted him by name. Turns out even topless waiters have to moonlight as accountants every now and then :)

We played all sorts of games, one of which involved answering questions about my FH. He was so sneaky and threw in some dodgy answers, resulting in me consuming quite a large number of shots in quick succession! But I pulled through, and off to dinner we went. Can't say I remember much of dinner, but the photos confirm we did eat and we did make a blimmin’ big mess – I'd say at least three glasses of wine took a tumble (only one was mine by the way). From dinner we headed off to town (complete with hideous veil, furry handcuffs and flashing shot glass), partied with the Phoenix supporters at Four Kings and finished up at good old Kitty O'Shea's. I crawled into bed some time after 3 am – not bad for a nana such as myself!

But enough talking, here's a few photos:

I expect to be in official freakout mode come this time next week. Till then :)

Bargain Bride - Wendy B

I'm a 24 year old Wellingtonian preparing to marry my partner in crime on 30 Jan 2010.  In 2008 we got engaged, bought our first house and had our first child.  Instead of having 2009 off to recover, we're throwing ourselves head-first into wedding planning!  Did I mention we're trying to do it all for under 10K!?
