John Banks stuck it out to the bitter campaigning end and he got there, winning the Epsom electorate

As has become tradition over the past few years, let us now name the winner of the ‘Nightie’, Nightline’s version of New Zealander of the Year 2011.

It is awarded to a public figure who has made the lives of journalists more interesting.

Here is Ali Ikram with this year’s winner, ACT MP John Banks.
