As has become tradition over the past few years, let us now name the winner of the ‘Nightie’, Nightline’s version of New Zealander of the Year 2011.

It is awarded to a public figure who has made the lives of journalists more interesting.

Here is Ali Ikram with this year’s winner, ACT MP John Banks.
