When the nurse came to TV3 at the start of winter, our office was divided on the value of the flu jab - and so was the general public.
Many of you felt better off without it, others hadn't got round to it, but by the end of last week 980,920 of you around New Zealand had opted to get it.
One woman who didn't was 49-year-old Wellington mum Cate McIlroy.
Only five days after developing a tickle in her throat, Cate died of influenza.
Her case is extremely rare because she was young, fit and healthy, but the flu can be a killer - and there's a lot of it about this year.
A report released to us this afternoon by the ESR shows GPs have treated 1,275 people for it this year.
Cate's family told Rachel Tiffen they don't want anyone else to die in vain. They're pleading for everyone to get their flu shot.
