Authorities in Nelson aren't expecting to evacuate any more people from homes near a slip caused by torrential rain and flooding.
Geotechnical engineers have inspected the slip on the hillside above Rocks Road in Nelson, and Civil Defence said on Monday that no further evacuations are anticipated.
Authorities evacuated 30 properties near the slip on Sunday.
The Nelson region was hit by the heaviest rainfall in 40 years last week, which caused extensive flooding, slips and road closures.
About 105 properties have been red-stickered - meaning they are unsafe and cannot be entered - as a result of damage sustained during the wild weather.
Assessment of these properties will continue, but at least 35 homes have already been declared unsafe to occupy, pending further inspections.
The state of emergency will be extended for another week and residents in Richmond are being urged to conserve water.
Most beaches in the region remain closed because of the likelihood that sewage spilled into the sea during the heavy rain.
