No play on day 2 of Pakistan, Sri Lanka test

3News NZ

Heavy rain forced the second day of the third and final test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Australian umpires Simon Taufel and Steve Davis called off play in the afternoon with dark clouds indicating more rain to come.

Sri Lanka was struggling at 44-3 in response to Pakistan's first innings of 226.

Sri Lanka leads 1-0 in the series after winning the first test by 209 runs at Galle. A placid pitch at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo ensured the second test last week ended in a draw.

Sri Lanka is looking for its first test series win since beating New Zealand at home in 2009.
