New Zealand athletes will not be banned from using sleeping pills at the London Olympics

The New Zealand Olympic Committee say they will not follow the lead of their Australian counterparts who have banned athletes from using sleeping pills at the London Olympics.

The Australian Olympic Committee announced their decision following revelations former Olympic champion Grant Hacket was addicted to the sleep aid Stillnox during his career.

A former Australian swimming coach has claimed Hackett's reliance on sleeping pills cost him a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
