I think the best solution would be both camera (to possibly catch the criminal after the attack) and the sound thing to prevent the attack for continuing

Seems like a brilliant solution - actually offers protection as opposed to camera which offer no protection, just deterrence. There are plenty of examples of cameras failing to deter criminals (banks, buses, shops, pharmacies...) - even footage from within the guy's own taxi! Don't think the thugs who do this kind of crime would have enough foresight to carry ear plugs. Screens seem a good idea - but the report said more expensive.

Not only have crims heard of ear plugs - what will happen to the taxi-driver's ears? If they wear ear plugs will they hear their passengers' requests and if they don't, will they be out of the taxi before the assailants? No a screen of some sort would be cheaper/more effective.

Do they think crims haven't heard of ear plugs?

RE: SONIC DEFENCE

Sorry John! In the 1st demonstration; the fake offender had his Hands on the Taxi Driver for 8 seconds before he could activate the alarm!!! What if he had a weapon [like a knife]?

Has anyone thought about caging [with re-inforced meash] the cavity, to seperate the Driver from his Passengers

Just a thought
