Police have arrested every single known patched member of the outlawed Australian Rebels motorbike gang in Taranaki, and others in Northland.

The Rebels - known for dealing in illegal drugs - started forming a chapter here last year.

Detective Inspector Chris Bensemann from Palmerston North says it was a multi-region approach to try and stop the Rebels gaining a foothold in the methamphetamine trade.

"Those think of joining the ranks should think twice," says Mr Bensemann. "They can expect to place themselves directly in our line of sight should they begin their association with Rebels gang members or the Rebels gang itself."

Mr Bensemann says yesterday's operation involved about 80 police officers from central and Northland districts.

What a joke this is not even worthy of page 15 in local rag, the money getting poured into having a nosey at a suspicion is ludicrous to date there have still been no convictions of any substance involving more than a 3 month prison term and on that note even any current charges are still tidily winks in comparison to the hype. Indicates nz crime boring unorganized police bored need to keep public in state of fear to justify the over policed state in which we live with all the mod con gadgets at their disposal all they can find is a few recreational drug users riding bikes no wonder they dont want the real secret revealed, or maybe they be in the winz office the police think there in hollywood truth is there laughing stock of the population with i.q over 50.

I applaud the Police for actively trying to stop this new gang from entrenching themselves in NZ, but speaking from an ex cops point of view, it is extremly hard to "legally" eradicate such groups completely. If you really want to get rid of them contract another gang such as the headhunters etc to get rid of them (worked in Australia when the Mongrel Mob tried to set up a chapter but were stopped and driven out by the Coffin Cheaters MC) problem is the gang network is wide these days and they all work together. Get used to seeing the Rebels MC expand, unfortunately... just add them to the list of gangs we have in NZ.

Fantastic , but are the police following our national rivalry with Australia ?.If they boot them out are they just preventing a "corporate" take over and kindly helping the Headhunters, Hells Angels , or whoever to regain their market dominance. The whole approach seems pointless and a waste of our money.

How can NZ stop them? NZ politicians certainly have a lot less spine than their Aussie counterparts and they can't stop them. Judith Collins says " they're not welcome". What a joke is old Collins! How many cars have you crushed, Crusher? Typical NZ politicians, all talk but very very little substance, verba non factor....enough said!
