It’s a new year for schools and their staff, but they appear to be suffering the same old problems with their payroll system, Novopay.

I hate you NOvoPAY.You taxed me at the higher tax rate(which is incorrect!!) so lost 1/3 of my holiday pay....and still haven't been sent a payslip (since 27.11.12) so I have nothing to prove this.Just what my Principal tells me.

Two days spent trying to sort out the last pay run. 19 staff with three paid holiday pay at unbeliveable calculations, one on maternity leave 2011 paid over 4 thousand dollars. the rest still waiting to have holiday pay. Two who resigned in September and November not paid correctly or holiday pay, nothing calculates properly. the service desk is a joke and if one more says fill in Novo31, it's the cop out for, get you off the phone statement.. I have filled in and sent to both MOE and novopay nothing happens. it is way over due to get rid of this incompetent crowd and put multiserve back in control. Debt management even sent letter to staff saying they owed money which is not correct it is the other way around. I asked who paid them? was it Novo pay and was told NO they do not get paid by them, so in my mind if it is not affecting you directly there seems no urgency to get this fixed. Day of cut off for pay roll instructions, the school intranet was down so i phoned asking for a fax number so I could send through manual timesheets. They do not have a fax line!!!!! I had to send to MOE and ask for them to email it through. What an antiquated system. They have also terminated 4 staff whose end of year date was 21December, Start of year date is 14 January. Terminated, there answer is send in new employment forms! I did not terminate them no resignation form has been sent. It is a dreadful mess and very stressful. Staff are saying they are going to look for work elsewhere out of education sector and I honestly don't blame them. It is Appauling treatment and it has gone on way too long.

Thats a little desperate isnt it S? since labour left office in Oct/Nov 2008 and National have had all that time right up to this very day to do something... or in Nationals case, nothing about it. They have the ability to terminate the contract for non performance and havent. They also have had time to evaluate Novapay since taking office and still chose to go through with launching the system nationwide. With teachers not being paid as they should be and schools losing funding through repeated blunders at Nova pays end, I wouldnt be surprised if teachers decided that were well within their rights to not show up for work when payment for their services is not guaranteed.
