Novopay, the new payroll system for schools, teachers, admin staff, caretakers and anyone on the Ministry of Education payroll, has been having major problems, with complaints rife.
It cost $30 million to develop and tonight we have the results of a survey of 2000 schools conducted by the New Zealand Principals’ Federation.
The survey asked:
Are all of your staff paid correctly for the most recent pay round?
- 79 percent said no
- 21 percent said yes
Do you have on-going problems yet to be resolved from previous pay rounds?
- 90.2 percent said yes
- 9.8 percent said no
Have you had to pay staff directly from your operations grant to cover Novopay mistakes since the Novopay system started?
- 45.6 percent said yes
- 54.4 percent said no
Sre you confident that any problems you've experienced so far with Novopay will be successfully resolved before the end of the school year?
- 14.3 percent said yes
- 85.7 percent said no
On Monday the Ministry of Education told us it expected to have only 100 mistakes in this week's pay round.
The statistics from the Principals Federation survey, and the response we've received this week would indicate that number is much higher.
