Staff at 628 schools around the country were overpaid, underpaid or not paid at all in the latest teacher pay round.

Steven Joyce, the cabinet minister in charge of fixing the Novopay system, says 521 were overpaid, 589 were underpaid and 552 weren't paid.

Errors affected 2.2 percent of staff.

"All complaints received are either currently being resolved or have been resolved," he said in his latest update on Friday.

"Staff were paid a total $160.3 million."

Mr Joyce says Talent2, the company that supplies Novopay, plans to release the first of three software upgrades this weekend.

The others will be released in March and April.

He says he expects a draft technical report on the system next week.

"I have asked the review team to evaluate the software remediation plan to give us an indication whether that will address the identified issues with the system," he said.

A ministerial inquiry is investigating all aspects of the error-ridden system, which has caused strife since it was rolled out in August.

Reading comments over the last few weeks about Novapay from teachers, administrators and principles it seems NO errors are being resolved.

How can that be???

I find this article interesting as I have had no confirmation the 10 errors including underpayments I am waiting to be resolved have even been looked in to. These were sent prior to the cutoff time on Thursday 14th, by Monday I had no reply. Got the report on Monday nothing resolved. One hour 35 minutes on hold only to be told don't worry we are working on these a new report will be issued in the morning. Tuesday morning - new report nothing resolved One hour wait to be told they have not even been sent to the service desk… I think some one has not been given all the facts, to be able to claim that all issues are either being resolved or are resolved. Unless being resolved means we haven’t actually looked at them yet. Steven Joyce I think you had better clarify that. To date no issues resolved. However, today I did get acknowledgment that something I sent through about 3 weeks ago “was moved from the Workspace Service Desk” and now has a service request number - whatever that means!!!!!!

Every one who has been affected by this debacle will know that the figures Joyece released are doubtful, as they don't take into account all the all mistakes from previous rounds that haven't been fixed yet. I am actually wondering if there is any school in our land that hasn't been affected by this catastrophy. At the moment I know that many staff due a pay rise at the beginning of the year have not been paid according to their pay scale. Is this been included in the figures you released Mr Joyce? I would bet they are not. And what if all the poor people are getting a back pay in the new financial year that then affects their tax bracket? What about student loans? So many follow on problems that need resolving as well. As Kelvin below illustrated the figures released are at best the tip of the iceberg. Shame on all of you that signed this off. I hope we won't see any of you any more after 2014.

I would say that is 628 schools too many. At the end of the day, as they say, it will be the NZ taxpayer who will be paying the bill for this crap/bulls-up. All in all it's not our MPs pay plus perks being affected by all this so not their concern.

I think a breakdown of this statement might show us whether things are going forward or backwards: "All complaints received are either currently being resolved or have been resolved," If 90% have been resolved, that would be great. If it's 10% resolved, then things might be going backwards.

Novopay is now Novomare!!! A debacle since day 1. Schools have no confidence in the system, Steven Joyce, Hekia Parata or John Key to fix this mess. Having a review or a miniserial inquiry is nothing but a TALK FEST, and an insult to the publi. The officials who signed off on this error-ridden system should resign immediately. But guess what THEY WONT!!! The salary of politicans should be stopped NOW, and re-instated when the salary of teachers and support staff are correctly paid, and believe me I'm sure that won't last long. BRING ON the LEGAL ACTION.

Its unbelievable the depths they've allowed this fiasco to fall to. Teachers living in a state of unwarranted stress every fortnight hoping they're not next and schools having their funds fleeced on a regular basis...Start laying some charges, misappropriation of funds, embezzlement, breech of contract... what the hell are they waiting for? The total incompetence of this admin will be Joe Key's legacy to NZ after this witless govt is finally voted out next year.

People should be paid on time and correctly each pay. The employed in this country work very hard for it and no one should be allowed to not pay for services used under contract. When will Joyce say enough is enough. National spout work harder yet the hardest working are penalised with more work sorting out this govts mistakes, and paying for them via their taxes. They spout on about saving money and not enough for defence and grommets yet use copious amounts on wasted handshakes, failed deals and chasing beneficiaries for pathetic sums of money. If our PM can change a law to suit the Warner Bros how about changing one to mandatory payment of teaching staff on time or even a law change to make insurance companys payout for the Ch Ch earthquake.
