Like many toddlers, 23-month-old Caitlin loves the water.
And like many families she and Mum Nicci have been at the beach this summer.
And so it was earlier this month on a private beach when Nicci was taking photos.
Nicci thought it was an iconic shot and so did her friends who encouraged her to upload it to Air New Zealand’s ‘grab a seat get amongst it’ photo website.
It's an Air New Zealand competition where people can send their favourite snapshots, snapshots to win prizes and there are plenty of photos on there, more than 3,000.
But Nicci's photo of Caitlin wasn't to be one of them.
“So I tried and couldn't work out why it wouldn’t load and next thing you know an email saying that it could be construed as on the internet as being pornographic,” said Nicci.
Nicci couldn’t believe it.
“Frontal view I could understand people being upset a little or her face being recognisable but not completely anonymous,” she said.
While all this was going on, the local paper was also looking at the photo because Nicci had entered it in their summer snapshot’s competition.
The papers reaction was totally different .... the photo won.
And as of today Caitlin’s bottom is on the front page for everyone to see.
And that's not the end of the matter.
Nicci found this photo on Air New Zealand’s ‘get amongst it’ website .... two anonymous girls with a cheeky attitude .... that's acceptable .... this is not.
Now you may argue Nicci being too blasé about her child's nudity.
“If I want to put my child’s back view up for view that's my business,” said Nicci.
She argues Air New Zealand is being too politically correct
We don't know because they didn't answer our questions.
But Nicci thinks it's just going too far.
“It was something totally, totally innocent, they were wanting photos that were iconic, and what more iconic than children playing on a beach,” she said.
