The place is a bureaucratic republic (note that republic has NOTHING to do with democracy or lack there of) with heavy corporate patronage, and most of the people with the influence to get what they want done keep a finger in both pies, so to speak. Arguing between democrats and republicans in US politics is even more meaningless than arguing about National and Labour in New Zealand's politics. Personally, what i want to know is who the hell keeps lending the American government money? how do they Get enough to go 3.83 trillion dollars over budget without simply printing more money and devaluing their dollar? i know they're big, but... good grief.
