The Obamas make their own home brew.
Earlier in the week on a visit to Iowa, President Barack Obama gave a bottle of the presidential blend to a patron in a coffee shop.
Members of the press travelling with Obama asked about the beer, and a White House spokesperson confirmed it was indeed the president's own brew.
"There is a home brew, if you will, at the White House," said spokesperson Jay Carney, reported Reuters.
It's called White House Honey Ale, and the honey comes from First Lady Michelle Obama's own beehive.
"I think I've only tried the light, and it's quite refreshing," Carney told reporters, before admitting he doesn't really know much about beer.
"I have exhausted my knowledge about this subject. Usually, when someone hands me a beer I don't ask how it was made, I just drink it."
Many early US presidents brewed their own beer, such as Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and George Washington, but it is believed Obama is the first to do it at the White House itself.
It was illegal to brew your own beer in the US as recently as the 1970s. It was legalised by Jimmy Carter in 1978.
