The OlyWhites have had a taste of life in the Games Village in London - eight days out from the start of their football campaign.
Captain Ryan Nelsen is one of the over-age players in the squad, but he is hoping the under-23's can shine on the big stage.
“If these young guys had the preparation and the facilities and the support staff that other nations have, the sky would be the limit for a lot of these players,” he says.
“But they don’t get that with New Zealand football unfortunately which is a real shame.”
The team heads for Austria in the next couple of days where they'll play their final warm-up game against the United Arab Emirates.
