In just 38 days the athlete with the honour of leading the Kiwi team into the opening ceremony of the London Olympics won't just be carrying the New Zealand flag.
He or she will also don Te Mahu-Tonga, the Maori cloak worn by Kiwi flag bearers which tonight passes from the winter to the summer games team.
A pre-Olympics ritual over the cloak is on this evening.
