Mahe Drysdale has won gold in the London 2012 Olympics men’s single sculls final at Eton Dorney.

With a time of 6:57:82, Drysdale edged out the Czech Republic’s Ondrej Synek (6:59:37) and Great Britain’s Alan Campbell (7:03:28) to secure New Zealand’s third gold medal at the London games.

It’s Olympic redemption for Drysdale, after a gastro virus ruined his chances for gold in 2008. He came home from Beijing with bronze.
