He was a nice young Muslim Australian growing up in a middle-class suburb of Sydney. At a time when most teenage boys are thinking about girls and parties he was preparing himself for "the ultimate sacrifice".

At just 16 Irfan Yusuf decided to leave Australia’s sunny shores to die as a member of Afghanistan’s Mujahideen.

He didn't. But what drove this boy from Bennelong to life as a self-described "Islamo-fascist" - and what ultimately brought him back?
