A young child remains in critical care in hospital after a crash north of Auckland, which injured three children and two adults.

The group reported to be family were in a car, which rolled at Glorit, on the Kaipara Coast Highway about 3.20pm on Saturday, with two of the children suffering critical injuries.

On Sunday morning, one child was critical, but stable and another child was in a stable condition in Starship Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Two adults and the other child suffered moderate injuries.

They had not been admitted to Starship or Auckland hospitals, the spokeswoman told NZ Newswire.

The critical child was three years old and the stable child 14 months, the New Zealand Herald reported.

The highway was closed on Saturday for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.
