They say every dog has his day, and today belonged to 17-month-old border terrier cross Pai.
In only his fifth week on the job, while inspecting a van about to be ferried to the Motuihe Island sanctuary, Pai found a rat.
And if you think DOC ranger Fin Buchanan looks over the moon, it's because the conservation department has spent millions of dollars trying to get islands in the gulf pest free.
So what does a dog get for protecting our investment in this countries flora and fauna?
