Shane Bond

Shane Bond

He has been billed as “New Zealand's best fast bowler since Sir Richard Hadlee” and the Black Caps could certainly do with someone of his talent right now.

Yet for much of his career, fast bowler Shane Bond lacked confidence – too shy to be intimidating. Until, that is, a crucial turning point, when he says: “My psyche changed in one moment”.

Paula Penfold finds out what happened to give him self belief and learns about the naughty past of cricket’s Mr Nice Guy.

It was a pleasure watching Shane Bond in action. The game that stands out to me is the Adelaide game where he took 5 / 25 because that's the game where he put himself on the map To this day I still rate Shane Bond as one of the greatest bowlers NZ has produced
