The residents of Christchurch are trying to piece together their Christmas after yesterday’s earthquakes unleashed liquefaction on the region once again.
Cantabrians endured a night of aftershocks that continue to rattle the city this morning, but Mayor Bob Parker says the city is still ready for Christmas and shopping in the area has resumed.
400 homes are still without power this morning and homes in Sumner are without water following a break in the water supply overnight.
However the clean-up operation has already begun with crews dispatched to clean up areas worst affected by liquefaction.
