Wellington’s waterfront flooded with costume-clad partygoers today as the World Sevens Series came to town.
Hundreds gathered at bars and on the walkway to Westpac Stadium dressed in some outrageous outfits including Belarusian shot put cheat Nadzeya Ostapchuk and cycling cheat Lance Armstrong.
The capital’s glorious streak of weather proved too hot for some, who stripped off before cooling off in the harbour.
Wellington’s two-day Sevens tournament is the city’s biggest party of the year, bringing hundreds of people into the city and boosting the local economy by millions.
