Trans-Tasman netball champions the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic today basked in the sunshine and the glory of their ANZ Championship win with a victory parade in Tauranga and a mayoral presentation in Hamilton.
The Magic have done their region proud, and to show their appreciation 3,000 fans lined the streets of Tauranga in what was flattering experience for the team.
“It is so incredible – a very humbling experience and [we are] very honoured to bring this cup home, but also to be a part of these two regions,” says coach Noeline Taurua.
But while fans came out to see their players, the team believes today was about their supporters, not about them.
On top of the championship trophy the team has also claimed other honours, with Laura Langman jointly winning the tournament's MVP award, Leana de Bruin claiming the grand finals player of the match and Juliana Naoupu being named best young player of the year.
Today’s celebrations were not limited to Tauranga though, Hamilton fans also greeted the team at Claudelands Arena - one of their home courts.
And the festivities won't end there for these girls, there'll be more celebrations to come tonight as they cherish what they've achieved.
