As the nation gears up for the Olympics in less than four weeks, another group of talented kiwi athletes are getting ready to reach their pinnacle in London as well.
The New Zealand Paralympics team has been confirmed with a 26 strong squad chosen to represent their country.
One those select few is cyclist Chris Ross, who spoke to Firstline this morning.
“I think it’s going to be mad, just a huge event,” he says.
New Zealand has won 180 medals at the Paralympics, but Mr Ross is keeping his goals modest, though he says the public attention is a huge motivator.
“It’s great to get the profile of Paralympics out there […] it definitely helps us and helps drive us,” he says.
