Paterson quits commissioner role for law chair

Ron Paterson has been appointed to a chair in law at the University of Auckland after 10 years as the Health and Disability Commissioner.

He will leave his current role at the end of March next year, taking up his professorship at the university in May.

Minister of Health Tony Ryall said Mr Paterson has "done professionally what is often an unpopular job".
