The French revolution set the ideals of 'liberty, equality, and FRATERNITY'. Fraternity a.k.a. nationalism, hence the tino rangatiratanga flag on the beret.
Do we acknowledge Turia's intellectual dues in our analysis? In that the rationale of her argument is a derivative of high spec European thought? Which is not what we expected.
Also, i believe (not sure) that the flag arises out of the 'Declaration of the Independence of New Zealand' (1835), interestingly this creates a nation prior to Waitangi...so why Treaty of Waitangi?
