Paul Henry has beaten off competition from the likes of Anika Moa, Annabel Fay and Nick D to be named Celebrity Spectacle Wearer of the Year today.
The annual competition is organised by glasses retailer Specsavers.
“I guess this makes me the ‘specsiest’ man in media,” says controversial RadioLIVE presenter Henry.
“I never thought I’d win an award based on my appearance. Now I have brains and beauty. I’m a double threat!”
“Paul’s glasses have become a major part of his look and really accentuate his character,” says Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year judge Colin Mathura-Jeffree.
“When you think of Paul Henry you immediately think of those amazing box glasses. He is a great example of what we will be looking for in the overall competition.”
Although the celebrity winner of the competition has been decided today, the competition is still open for public entry. The aim is to celebrate those who wear their glasses with confidence and style.
“It’s not about models in glasses; this is about everyday Kiwis showing personality and confidence in their look,” said Mathura-Jeffree.
The Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year winner will be announced in October when the seven regional finalists will face off in Auckland at an exclusive fashion show, where the grand finalist will be announced.
