Controversial broadcaster Paul Henry will return to New Zealand screens next year as the host of new game show Would I Lie to You?

The show sees teams of celebrities attempt tell made-up stories and half-truths in a believeable fashion – but not get caught doing it.

The show will air at 7pm on Sundays, providing some light relief sandwiched between the nightly news bulletin and 60 Minutes.

“We have always said that we wanted to launch Paul on TV3 with a show ideally suited to his mischievous wit and fearless opinions,” says MediaWorks’ managing director of programming Kelly Martin.

“This format is perfect. It allows us to make the most of Paul’s unique broadcasting talents, build on our track record with comedy, and involve a wide range of celebrity guests.”

Comedians Jesse Mulligan and Jon Bridges will captain the two teams on the show, with guests including the likes of Shihad frontman Jon Toogood and Outrageous Fortune stars Antonia Prebble and Robyn Malcolm.
