Fairfax Media Australia is jumping on the paywall bandwagon, part of a growing trend among online news organisations.

The company’s new business model will mean website users will soon be paying for online content.

Dr Ellis says people are used to having access to free news online, so organisations may push more toward specific paid versions.

“Look for a move toward tablet or iPad subscription models,” he says.
