Pearl Jam star Jeff Ament is recovering after he was injured in a violent robbery at an Atlanta, Georgia recording studio last month.

Masked thugs, brandishing knives, attacked the bass player and a Pearl Jam employee as they arrived at Southern Tracks Recording studios on 27 April.

A filed police report states the three assailants smashed the windows of a rented Jeep, grabbed a BlackBerry and demanded cash.

Ament was robbed of more than US$7,000 in cash and property. The thieves also took his passport.

As he tried to run from the thugs, they chased him and attacked him, leaving the rocker with a head wound that required medical treatment.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, the incident was caught on a surveillance camera and police are investigating the attack.

Ament and Pearl Jam have declined to comment on the robbery.
