Honda MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa of Spain (Reuters)

Honda's Dani Pedrosa took pole position for the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix ahead of MotoGP leader Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha.

Pedrosa clocked 1 minute, 33.857 seconds around the Misano circuit, with fellow Spaniard Lorenzo just 0.018 behind.

British rider Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha qualified third, 0.144 behind.

Lorenzo and Pedrosa are 1-2 in the standings, with Lorenzo 13 points ahead going into the 13th of 18 races.

LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl qualified fourth, San Carlo Honda's Alvaro Bautista was fifth and seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi of Ducati was sixth.

German rider Sandro Cortese of KTM took the Moto 3 pole.
