Halfback TJ Perenara has signed a two-year deal with the Hurricanes and Wellington rugby beginning in 2013.

Perenara's first Super Rugby season with the Hurricanes came to an abrupt end in June with a broken ankle, but coach Mark Hammett has no doubt the promising youngster can build on his impressive debut.

"TJ made a good start in his first season, and we're looking forward to continuing to work with him to develop his game and continue the progression of his career," Hammett said.

"He works hard off the field to learn and develop his game, and I'm sure he'll come back better and stronger in 2013 after his injury."

The Porirua-born and raised halfback is back on the road to recovery and itching to get back into rugby.

"I'm excited to be with Wellington and the Hurricanes for another two seasons. This is my home and I can't wait to get back on the field and play some footy," Perenara said.
