The first taste Hobbit fans got of Peter Jackson’s upcoming film was nine months ago. That was, in movie studio speak, the “teaser trailer”.
Now Sir Peter has hit them with his main trailer for the first of the three Hobbit films. It gives fans a far bigger insight into the first film’s storyline and tone, reflecting the far more comedic elements of the book.
He has timed his trailer release to coincide with Tolkien Week, which is on the anniversary of the first publication of The Hobbit.
Plenty of other geek treats have been served up for Tolkien Week, including new photos of the cast, and an additional six clips from the film which have been posted online so fans can make their own ending to the trailer.
Sir Peter will himself be celebrating the milestone this Saturday by heading into the edit booth to commence the final mix for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
