Three Amur tigers cubs have made their first foray into their open-air cage at Royev Ruchey zoo in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

The seven-week-old cubs have been named Kaktus, Jasmin and Narciss.

The tigers are a part of one of the world's rarest species - only 300 are thought to be left in the wild, most of which are in Russia's Far East.

The world's largest cat was once a familiar sight across northern China, the Korean peninsula and eastern Russia.

Loss of habitat and poaching took the cats to the brink of extinction in the 1940s – no more than 40 survived in the wild at that time.
