John Lydon says post-punk pioneers PiL will record new material – provided they get enough record company money to do so.

The band, formed in the wake of the Sex Pistols' split and active intermittently ever since, are going on tour in December to try and raise cash themselves.

Yes, if I raise the money from this, I most definitely will," he told the BBC, saying the band would not need much time to make a new album.

"That's basically the John Lydon approach to music – wham, bam, thank you ma'am."
