A second Aucklander has lost his cool in a fast food joint, driving his car through the front door to steal a pie he wanted for free, triggering a long police chase through the city's southern suburbs.

It comes just days after a Blockhouse Bay man allegedly smashed tills and threw furniture around a Wendy's restaurant when staff got his burger order wrong.

In the latest incident, a man bought several pies from a Mobil service station in Papakura late on Saturday night and argued with the attendant that he should get another for free, Fairfax NZ News reported.

When the attendant refused the man went back to his car "in a bit of a mood", and he and his mate drove through its doors to collect his "free" pie, a police spokeswoman said.

Police chased the car from Papakura to Pukekohe before it was eventually stopped by tyre spikes.

The pair faced Papakura District Court on Monday charged with burglary and failing to stop for police.

The incident came hot on the heels of 35-year-old David Ilolahia's outburst at Wendy's Lynfield last Friday.

The furniture removal worker was angered when two of three burgers ordered through the drive-through were wrong.

He told the New Zealand Herald the store manager "blew me off" when he went in to complain, so he got angry, smashing furniture and yelling.

Police were called and had to restrain him.

Ilolahia, who faces court this week, said his love of burgers had not been diminished.

Staff members say they are still waiting for an apology.
