Police in Auckland have this morning recaptured escaped prisoner Kevin Polwart.

The 49 year-old escaped from Paremoremo Prison in mid-December, cutting his way though a steel fence with an angle grinder.

He was doing time for robbing a Chubb security van - the company bumped up security when it found out he was on the loose.

It's not his first escape - he also managed to break out of Rimutaka Prison in 2001.

Polwart will appear in the North Shore District Court later today on charges relating to his escape.

When will Kevin ever learn hes way past his age plus security can run faster than himself. It is just a waste of taxpayers money.Probably get longer sentence for trying twice to escape now.Its not worth it if you do the crime, you do the time end of story.

Kevin should be given a remission on his sentence for (twice) showing up the inadequacies of prison security and therefore helping prison officials block future escape plans.
