The Topia triplets

Items have been taken two houses for forensic examination, as police investigate the death of a two-month-old Whanganui triplet.

Hinekawa Topia from died from non-accidental head injuries on Thursday.

Her funeral was held on Sunday, but it's only the beginning for Government agencies who are working on the case.

Twenty officers are working on the case and issued search warrants on homes in South Taranaki and Whanganui yesterday, trying to build a picture of the last weeks of her life.

Hinekawa is survived by her two sisters and her five-year-old brother.

They've been taken into the care of Child Youth and Family. They arrived at the home of a carer yesterday afternoon.

CYF says it was not aware of the family prior to Hinekawa's death, but is now working closely with police.
