Comments that might be detrimental to the crims get moderated out when they try to explain legal breaches (like distribution of copyrighted material uinder NZ law) by crims and defend NZ Police and NZ law. One can only wonder if somebody is buying NZ media response?

Mike you surmise too much. I have the greatest respect for the hardwork our frontline police do 24 hours per day every day of the year.

I do not offer the same respect to the top level Police hiearchy that put so much planning and resources into arresting Dotcom who had not broken any laws of NZ, but they make these resources available immediately on request of the FBI. There were helicopters, Armed Offenders Squad, Furniture trucks to remove assets and they froze all his bank accounts.

I wish they had deployed the same resources to try and determine who killed the Kahui twin babies.

I know I have said this before - but the NZ Police (The top dogs) as far as I am aware have still have not returned anything to Dotcom and this is one aspect that I find disgraceful.

Sometimes one gets the perception that there is a law for some but not everyone.

The reality is this/that government aren't in each others pockets. Governments around the world do cooperate, as this helps international relations and world trade which is good for all parties.

Police around the world also cooperate. Sometimes through Interpol, sometimes directly. Eg the NZ police in the UK currently are their to liason for NZrs to add to their security for the games, just as the FBI were here to liason. In the same way the guy who murdered his wife, abandoned his daughter at the aiport, fled to the states, NZ liasoned in the US then too!

The only one on about a conspiracy is a defendant who want to make so much media noise that his alledged crimes in the US are forgotten. Take a look at his Mr President video, he is pro-anarchy, anti-government, anti-law, anti-police - even before the raid!

Our media is being played by someone with plenty of experience at playing media. Take dotcoms history in the EU which he defrauded millions, or insider trading charges more recently in HongKong. This is not an honest guy, and his fact sheet is highly selective missing almost all the facts.

Megaupload wasn't chosen to be an example, more Megaupload by its own actions became an example. Any business that does a bad taste advertising campaign about it flouting the law will put itself at the top of any list to be targeted. Megaupload may not be the biggest internet copyright infringer, but their bad taste advertsiing campaign moved them to the top of the list to be investigated.

Money laundering, conspiracy as additional charges? We wont know about them till the case goes to trial in the US. But on history, when the US charges Money Laundering they have a fairly high conviction rate, as they will have tracked the money flow, and we know nothing of megauploads money flow.
