Police are hunting a convicted child sex offender who is on the run after allegedly breaching his prison release conditions.

Brad Bowers, 24, has contacts in the Hutt Valley and Kapiti Coast areas and is aware there are three outstanding warrants for his arrest, Detective Sergeant Richard Orr says.

He is described as caucasian, 170cm tall and of large build. He may be driving a silver Nissan Sentra hatchback or a blue Toyota Corolla hatchback.

Bowers was convicted for sexually grooming a teenage girl in 2007 and performing indecent acts on her.

He was later jailed for breaching parole conditions by getting involved with a church youth group and high school students.

Anyone who has seen Bowers is asked to contact police.
