Police are investigating after a man came to an Auckland hospital with possible gunshot wounds.

A man was taken to Greenlane Clinical Centre with suspicious injuries today and had been transferred to Auckland Hospital, police say.

It was not yet clear if he had suffered gunshot wounds. Police were investigating, a police northern communications spokeswoman told NZ Newswire.

The man is reported to be aged 45 years old.

The man was being assessed in the emergency department at Auckland City Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman told NZ Newswire.
