Police are investigating an alleged sexual attack that happened shortly before 10pm last night in Opotiki, eastern Bay of Plenty.
Two men entered the house and allegedly assaulted and sexually violated a 22-year-old female tourist, said Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Standen, of Whakatane CIB.
“The nature of this attack is very serious and alarming due to the brazen manner these attackers have entered and perpetrated this crime.”
He said the other people in the house were unaware at the time of what was happening.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious between 9pm and 1am in the area near Ford and Goring Sts.
