A gang member in breach of bail conditions and his girlfriend were arrested in Hastings yesterday.

Police stopped a car in Omahu Road and found the 23-year-old Mongrel Mob member and his girlfriend, Senior Sergeant Luke Shadbolt said.

The two fled from police but were found a short distance away in Flaxmere, hiding at a house.

The man has been charged with breach of bail, escaping custody and reckless driving.

His girlfriend has been charged with failing to stop, assisting to escape, reckless driving, assault on police and resisting arrest.

The man had earlier been charged with assaulting his girlfriend.

Both are to appear in the Hastings District Court today.

Police also arrested a 16-year-old in relation to an aggravated robbery of the Windsor Avenue dairy in November last year. He will appear in the Hastings Children's and Young Person's Court today.
